Our first day at the Grand Blanc Farmers Market is officially a wrap! It was the first Wednesday market of the season (they run it on Wednesdays and Sundays) and there were six or seven stands lined up alongside the road in downtown Grand Blanc.
We were assigned a spot between Sweetz Sugaring (a maple syrup company based in Imlay City) and R & C's Homemade Goodness (a cottage food operation in Fenton that sells breads and yummy Nutella no-bake cookies). We could feel the energy in the air as businesses unloaded their trucks and set up their tents, and we got to meet some of the other vendors as we walked around to check out their stands. A woman from the Porter's Orchard booth even brought over some apple cider slushies to welcome us to the market...and boy did they hit the spot in that late afternoon heat!
We learned a few things (take inventory before we go, bring weights for the tent), met some great people, and all in all had a thoroughly enjoyable first day. Baby even managed to entertain customers with little dances in the walkway, so there was never a dull moment!
It's hard to describe what it feels like to have reached our first major goal as a business (selling at GBFM). Do we cry? Jump for joy? Twiddle our thumbs and decide what to reach for next? A little of each? Maybe it's best if we just go to bed...after all, it's been an exhausting (albeit highly satisfying) day!
